SEND LOCAL OFFER

Local Offer for Children with Special Educational Needs and/ or Disabilities (SEND)

At Happy Faces Nursery in Burnley, we are committed to providing reliable, trustworthy, and high-quality care for our local community. We warmly welcome all children and proactively work alongside parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure every child’s unique needs are identified and met. We have robust, regularly reviewed policies in place to ensure our provision fully supports your child, helping them to progress and achieve their best possible outcomes.

Working Together with Families

We believe that children can only thrive when professionals and parents work as a team. As a parent you have a unique knowledge of your child, and we actively encourage you to share this expertise with your child’s designated key person.

Your key person will regularly liaise with you to share daily practice, discuss progress, and focus on any specific areas of development. To ensure you always feel supported and informed, we also invite parents to dedicated review meetings at least once a term alongside our nursery SENCo.

Supporting Children with Identified Needs

We have a dedicated Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) who works hand-in-hand with your child’s key person and your family to ensure that individual needs are met and any additional support is secured promptly.

We carefully adapt our environment, resources, and activities so that your child can fully benefit from every experience. To support this, our staff team is continuously developing their skills and knowledge in line with current legislation and the emerging needs of the children we support.

With your consent, our SENCo and key person will also collaborate closely with external professionals, such as the Local Authority Area SENCo, Speech and Language Therapists, and Health Visitors, to gain expert advice. Together, we will agree on specific plans, implement targeted strategies, and regularly review your child’s wonderful progress.

An Accessible Environment for All

Our nursery has been thoughtfully adapted to ensure it is accessible and welcoming for everyone. Communication is also a vital part of accessibility; if English is not your family’s first language, our staff will gladly learn and use key words in your home language to help your child feel secure, understood, and ready to learn.

Helping with Transitions

Change can be daunting for little ones, so we manage transitions with the utmost care. When your child is taking the big step to primary school, we work in partnership with you to plan every detail.

When it is time for school, we invite your child’s new teacher and their school SENCo into Happy Faces Nursery to meet your child's key person. We complete and securely pass on all relevant supporting documents to guarantee a smooth, confident, and happy transition to their next adventure.
